WHO WE ARE
Wharehine are a 100% New Zealand owned and operated civil infrastructure business that was established over 65 years ago. Since our inception we have grown into the multi-service civil construction, quarrying & transport business that exists today. We work across both the Auckland & Northland regions, from humble beginnings in Wellsford we now have yards and quarries from Silverdale to Kawakawa & even in NZ’s original capital, Russell. We pride ourselves on supporting local employment opportunities and providing the tools & training for long careers within the construction, quarry & transport industries. Attracting new people to the infrastructure sector is important to us & we strive to offer training and development in order to give everyone the opportunity to thrive in their career at Wharehine.
Since 1955, we have grown and developed as time has gone by, we do however maintain the same family values for which the foundations of the business were built upon. We are now transitioning to a staff owned business with the purpose of maintaining the strong sense of ownership throughout our team, very much still a family culture.
Our 6 key work divisions are;
- Major Civil Infrastructure Projects
- Civil Construction
- Road Maintenance
- Quarries
- Transport
- Heavy Engineering Workshop
We have built a reputation, on principles of honesty, hard work, reliability and fairness. We have a deep respect for our community and bring that hardworking reliable approach to private projects within our local landscape too. Some of the private works we do include local land developments, farm road upgrades, community driveways, shared paths, local primary school carparks, golf clubs civil works & town developments. Our projects are diverse and are on a large spectrum, we enjoying chatting to our customers on whichever way we can best be of service.
Being 100% New Zealand and locally owned, we have a very strong sense of where we belong & are not a National or International company, we strive to give back to the local communities where our people & their families live. We do this through donating time and resources to many projects across the North Auckland and Northland districts.
